The story behind carvers

Carvers Steaks and Seafood was originally known as Carvers Steaks and Chops. When Carvers was originally opened in 1996 as part of the Paragon Restaurant Group, a 126-unit restaurant chain that stretched from California to the Mid-Western states. These restaurants were known as Hungry Hunter, Carvers Creek, Carvers Steak and Seafood, the Cliffhouse, Hunter Steakhouse, the Sheepherder and The Whaling Company. The Paragon Restaurant Group originally opened two restaurants in Utah, one was located in Orem as well as one in Sandy. In the early 2000s the Paragon Restaurant faced closing and in 2002 Stone Douglass bought 26 of the 126 restaurants and the group was renamed Paragon Partners.

The depression in 2008 forced the Paragon Partners to close a few restaurants, leaving Alison Leach the option to find new employment or become and entrepreneur. Currently, Carvers is privately owned and operated by Alison Leach, and her brother-in-law, Bill DeJong who resides in California.

Our Standard is Excellence

Our guests are not our customers, they are our guests and they have decided to come and spend their night out with us. Our hospitality is warm and welcoming, our atmosphere is fun and energetic, our restaurant is friendly and lively. Everyone contributes to these feelings and we strive to exceed our guest’s expectations.

We all play a role in our advertising. Our best (and worst) advertisement is word of mouth, not just by us but as well as what our guests have to say about us.  We want them to go to work the next day and tell everyone what an amazing filet mignon they had at Carvers. We want them to be convinced that the best place for their company party or just their night out would be carvers because YOU had such impressive service. YOU play a very important part in our success and we are selective about who works for us.

“We are not a company of people but rather a people company. Our relentless passion for exceeding our guest’s expectations is not at the cost of our people but rather for the gain of our people. We create the most pride and profits for our people to share in following the “every table every time” philosophy.”  –Alison Leach

Carvers Cares

We at Carvers work within the community to Help those who are less fortunate. We often spend time volunteering by cooking food and passing out items that are needed in the community. We also work with Jackets for Jonah and raise money during the winter to ensure our unsheltered neighbors are able to receive items to keep them warm.
